Who We Are

An engineering team built by students.

We are AHS Robotics: a 100+ member, student-led team at Alpharetta High School, competing in FIRST Robotics since 2014. We design, build, and program robots, and every one of us learns to lead along the way.

Our Mission

We want to bring STEM to local students early and create a community space for learning where anyone can take part.

Our Vision

We are developing the next generation of engineers, innovators, and leaders through hands-on competition, rigorous design, and meaningful community impact.

Team Structure

Our Subteams

Mechanical

We design, fabricate, and assemble the robot's physical structure.

Programming

We write autonomous routines, control systems, and vision pipelines.

CAD & Design

We model the robot in 3D and validate our designs before fabrication.

Electrical

We wire the motors, sensors, and control systems so the robot performs reliably at competition.

Business & Media

We handle sponsorships, branding, social media, and outreach communications.

Our Coach & Team Advisor

Engineering teacher · 13th year teaching

Statement from Mr. McCray: After graduating from high school, I enrolled into Southern Polytechnic State University and majored in Computer Engineering Technology. The major is a digital section of Electrical Engineering Technology at the time. I studied digital electronics, controls, physics and computer design. I worked for a bank for nine years; I decided to find other employment. After working in different industries, I started working for laboratories. I was a quality control laboratory technician for four years testing oil, diapers, plastics, and plastic films. Later, I received employment from a Civil and Structural engineering firm who did products testing. We tested products to certify that they meet requires standards. The standards were physical in nature with some chemical. I was able to use my electrical background to test certain products. After five years, I was promoted to Senior Laboratory Technician. I was in charge of designing test and training all laboratory technicians. I was asked to start an engineering firm and build a lab. We built the lab within three month and I trained all the technicians we hired. With the knowledge I used as a lab technician and my love for Physics, I enrolled at Western Governors University to major in Science (Physics, 5-12). This is my 13th year teaching and I am the advisor for the Robotics club.
